The clutch damper can become damaged due to many reasons. Lately, we have seen so many worn and damaged clutch dampers that it has become a bit of an epidemic here. 99 out of every 100 SST units we see have broken or weak springs in the damper. When the damper fails it can cause a variety of cascading issues, such as causing clutch engagement problems, damaged shift forks, and error codes. In more extreme cases, we have seen bad dampers cause the transmission to not work at all!
If your assembly has broken springs, do not fret as we offer a rebuild / upgrade over the OEM damper assembly! We have spent a lot of time in R&D and have developed a much more reliable spring setup which is stronger, includes new spring seats / guides, and that will outlast the OEM dampers (and those hacked together by the other guys). Speaking of the 'other guys', who also like to 'borrow' pictures of our products, we do not cut open up the dampers using an oversized can opener.
First, we take the damper and perform a series of precision CNC cuts to carefully open up the assembly. We then replace the poorly designed OEM springs with a stronger, more rigid set of springs, replace the plastic stops with custom billet ends, install new spring guides, and carefully weld each assembly by hand. The dampers are then tested to ensure proper operation.
Cores are available for core exchanges.
